THE LIRIODENDRESS
I am an angel, a dragon, a human, a tree.
A child of the Appalachian Mountains, Amanda's embodied expression is
deeply embedded in the heart of the Tulip Poplar tree, her long-time, arboreal companion. Shaped by this interspecies collaboration, Amanda is a Liriodendress, a human embodiment of the Tulip Poplar tree.

Having received her B.A. in English Literature from Campbell University, Amanda studied with Teresa Boardwine at the Green Comfort School of Herbal Medicine and is a particular student of renowned author and herbalist, Matthew Wood. She is
a teacher and contributing voice at the Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism.
The author of Flowers for a Girl: Plant Medicine and Sexual Trauma, Amanda is Executive Director of LYRA, the founder of Liriodendress Press, the human voice of the Whispers: Plant Spirit Medicine podcast, and the creator and curator of Entosophy,
a dynamic collection of unique, philosophical interviews with trees.
Her creative work with plant spirit communication was part of the
2024 Yale Graduate Conference in Religion & Ecology.
In collaboration with the Tulip Poplar tree, Amanda offers the
Tulip Poplar Apprenticeship, a 1:1 heart-transmission of the medicine and essence
of her beloved tree.
Devoted to creating a beautiful body of work dedicated to the Tulip Poplar tree, Amanda writes and sings while caring for her children under the branches of a tree.
